NBA Trade Deadline: Nets Trade Mikal Bridges to Knicks

Bridges Owed $233 Million Next Season

Nets Acquire Multiple First-Round Picks

In a blockbuster move ahead of the NBA trade deadline, the Brooklyn Nets have traded Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks.

Bridges is owed $233 million in the final season of his current four-year, $90 million extension, which he signed with the Phoenix Suns in 2021. The Nets paid the remainder of that contract in the trade.

The Nets received four unprotected first-round picks and a protected first-round pick via the Milwaukee Bucks in return for Bridges.

Bridges has been a key contributor for the Suns, averaging 14.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season. He is also a strong defender, earning All-Defensive Second Team honors in each of the past two seasons.

The trade is a major coup for the Knicks, who have been looking to add a star player. Bridges is a versatile forward who can play both the small forward and power forward positions.

The Nets, meanwhile, are now in a rebuilding mode after trading away Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving earlier this season. The team is hoping that the first-round picks they acquired in the Bridges trade will help them build a new contender in the coming years.
